Vintage Japanese Sakabukuro Tote

375.00

This is a really special bag. It’s made from a vintage Japanese sake filter bag. The original material was first naturally dyed with persimmon tannins to give it the incredible color, then was used countless times as a filter during the sake distilling process. All of the patching, mending and stenciling are original to the bag, as well as the drawstrings on the back pocket. The bottom reinforcement, top banding and handy front patch pocket of the bag are made with rich chocolate veg-tanned leather that has been extensively hand-processed to give it a lived-in look and feel that pairs beautifully with the vintage piece. The tote straps are made with chocolate hand-cut + finished belting leather that will also patina and soften with time. A patch pocket on back is made with the same vintage fabric and has the original drawstring to cinch it closed for extra security. The top has a hidden snap closure to keep everything safely inside the bag. The inside is fully lined with ticking canvas and has two additional pockets to keep organized. A trio of our signature cross details are hand-embroidered with red waxed thread on the front pocket. And to finish off this incredible bag, a handmade fob of bone, brass and ceramic beads can either be left as a gorgeous detail or clipped off to use as a keychain. This bag is truly one-of-a-kind.
